I resurrected my original Windows XP PC and I opened up some of my favourite project files. This computer will be offline with nothing leaving or going. FYI, because I'm not sticking a USB drive in this thing, I had to take photos of the illustrations off of a monitor screen. The quality isn't as good as it could be but you get the idea. Eventually...all the retro hardware will die. All the software will corrupt. There needs to be a company that sees the potential of modern hardware running retro hardware. I know this exists but I'm talking about CRT TV's in 2024 and beyond. Then release a DVD/VHS combo player. Audio receiver. Speakers. Come on Analogue...this is your next BIG thing. Got to love clear plastic.
I want to play my 360 XBLA games on my Apple TV 4K with Nintendo Switch Pro controller. Plus the indie titles. Every piece of content I've paid for that's tied to my account, I want to play anywhere. Xbox does that, I'll sign up for game pass indefinitely. Nostalgia must be preserved. Xbox should release new hardware along side certified hardware like Windows/Mac/Linux computers. AppleTV 4K. Once I found out that Microsoft...wasn't going to support backwards compatibility moving on from 360, I exited the industry. I have plenty of nostalgia to fall back on but for Xbox 360 I have several precious gems on disc I can load into either of my 360s, but I'm not logged in to my online account.
Doesn't sit right with me connecting old hardware to my internet. But, if Xbox released a new Xbox that had expandable storage and backwards compatible with Xbox OG, 360, One, Series S/X you sell clients a subscription to access that nostalgia. Essentially expand Game Pass, so nostalgia is monetized indefinitely. Be the Netflix of gaming. I want to play XBLA Crazy Taxy on my AppleTV. For those of you who are salty about console exclusives...how sad. This tribalism really confuses what matters to gamers: escape. Currently, I can't pay Xbox to escape because Microsoft didn't invest in their own nostalgia. Maybe things will change. All I know is the retro stuff is charming and timeless. Make Xbox Nostalgic Again! This was my first website. I spent thousands of dollars on a develper to create the ultimate blog site, with an intelligent comment system that would self-moderate. I was digging around in my Google Drive and I found these assets based on two articles I had written between 2011 and 2012. They were really innovative for the time. See if you recognize how this idea manifested in the future. Windows Phone + Xbox ControllerImagine how cool this would have been in 2011?!?!?!?!? Kinect ProjectorImagine if this was possible... I designed this shirt in CorelDraw. People thought the shirt was hilarious. Front of T-Shirt Back of T-Shirt
Paolo was/is a Civil War buff. While I was working downtown, I saw this chess set, and I knew what I had to do. So I bought the chess board. I think we all pooled in for the $200 pricetag in the 2000's. I went to Michael's and I got to work creating a custom chess board. I used spices and spray glue. I frosted the glass that was masked off by the tape. I have no idea if he still has this.
So this is game related only physical sports. Back in like...2003, we created a men's touch football league. Paolo was the coach. He had this system that he could dynamically call routes as the scrimage sets up before the whistle. Each sequence of numbers would represent a pattern from left to right of the field. I designed this logo. I may even have the T-Shirt somewhere. So anyways Cobra Kai was Paolo's first coaching gig. One of many gigs. I drew the logo and we made official jerseys. We did ok. The best part was having a good time after the game.
