Boredom is low-hanging fruit of productivity

Boredom lies between productivity and distraction.  No one ever feels accomplished when you've reached the end of distraction's effectivness.  Productivity fosters a sense of acheivement but boredom compromises that path with sheer sloth.

Sure, here’s a concise way to explain it to your daughter:

"Imagine you have a path leading to a treasure chest. Along one side, there's a slide full of fun distractions like games and videos. It’s fun at first, but once you slide to the bottom, you feel like you haven’t gotten anywhere closer to the treasure. On the other side is a path covered with thick, sticky mud—that’s boredom. It can slow you down and make it hard to walk. But right in the middle is a clear path—that's being productive. When you walk that path, it might take effort, but it leads you straight to the treasure chest. Once you open it, you feel really proud and happy because you’ve found something valuable—like finishing a project or learning something new. So, choosing to be productive helps you feel good and accomplished, while avoiding getting stuck in boredom or endless distractions."
